Another Classic Chase Moment

A couple of weeks ago at church was our fast and testimony meeting.  I'm not always the best example of bearing my testimony anymore to the congregation  ( I used to do it more), but that day, the older kids and I actually did.  Well, of course, then Livvy, then Chase really wanted to go up.  Chase asked what he was supposed to say up there.  I told him that we just say what we feel in our hearts, and what we are thankful for.
So... Proudly he went.
I must admit I am wondering at this point how this was going to go down.  Something interesting always comes out of Chase's mouth.
When he stood up to the pulpit, he looked so cute...and brave.

 Very confidently he said,
"I'm thankful for my family.
And the gospel.
I'm thankful to come to church."
........................
Freeze
.........................
Then Chase looked out at the congregation, straight at me, and said,
"Mommy?  Now What?"
Wade and I started chuckling under our breath.  Of course I couldn't answer him. I was 15 feet away.  Then Chase, bursts into tears and very loudly, into the microphone, yells,

"I CAN'T DO IT!  IT'S TOO HARD!"

Yup, in front of the whole church...

Then he runs bolts down to us.  He was mortified. We were stifling our laughs, and our embarrassment a little too.  So many people were laughing as well.
You can expect nothing less of Chase than to put on a good show.

However, so many people came up to Chase and told him how brave he was and that he had done a good job.  And our bishop's wife called and said that Chase was the topic of their Sunday dinner conversation--that they all thought he was so cute.
And funny.
Chase is definitely a very funny boy.
Even when he's not trying to be.
Man, I love him!

Here is Chase putting on a show at the Salt Lake Temple (October/Christina's wedding).  He gathered a crowd, literally-- cameras and all.
If someone ever sees him on youtube, will you please let me know?  I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later.
Just by Chase being Chase.
That's my boy!

Braydon's Science Fair Project

Braydon just completed his fifth grade science fair project.  He and Wade went to A LOT of work to build and test airplane wings in their homemade wind tunnel.

Braydon wanted to do his backdrop all by his self!  I offered to help, but I think he was afraid I would make it look like a scrapbook page.  Ok, he's probably right.    I didn't get to help.  :(
But, actually I am proud of him for testing all the wings and knowing his subject well enough to type it all up and get it all put together.

Braydon demonstrates how the wind goes over the wing, based on the Bernoulli's Principle.  They used smoke, pushed through the straws, to simulate wind.  They burned incense in a smoke chamber behind the wind tunnel.

Here are the wings they carved to test.
I was so proud of my super smart boys.  My husband is so talented.  I am so glad that he helped Braydon learn a lot about aviation during this project.  Braydon loved it and did such a great job with it.  He's always been such a great student, so eager to learn, and also has many talents and strengths.  I was very impressed with this project.  I am so proud to be Braydon's mama. :)

{Winter} Days Gone By

I am so glad that Spring is peeking out through some of our long winter days.  However, we had a lot of fun sledding in all the beautiful snow this winter.  I must give credit where credit is due.  Here are just a few pictures of our family sledding.

That's one heck of a hill, wouldn't ya say?

Wade and I took turns with the "baby."
I thought this picture of me carrying Livvy up the hill was funny.  Carrying a child in all the snow gear, while chasing sleds etc. is not easy.  Livvy's expression speaks clearly how akward it was.

What fun we had.  Only Sommer ended up a little worse for the wear.

Lucky

As we were leaving for church, Livvy was holding her baby doll but Wade told her that she had to leave it because it cries and coos.  Livvy put it down on the couch, covered it up, kissed it and said, "Mama loves you so much! Mama will be right back."

I was gushing over her and said, " You are so sweet!  Where did you learn to be so sweet to your babies?"

She just smiled, but Chase said, "You!''
'What," I asked?
Again he said, '' She learned it from you.''

As a mom, that's just the sweetest thing I ever heard. I never want to forget that sweet moment! :)
